Most people probably have an image of Superman, or Batman, or Spiderman when they hear the word “Superhero”, but I have a different hero come to mind…. and I am betting a lot of other parents do too. Those of us who have to watch our children go through things most couldn’t even imagine…. and not just once or twice in their lives, but ALL the time. I cannot tell you how many times I have wished to take her pain away, or take her place. Yet I know there’s no way I could go through what she does and still come out with my smile in tact as she does…. No, I don’t think I’d be able to even get up again. This girl has had not one, but two surgeries that are considered the most painful thing on earth. Once when she was only 2 years old…. now you tell me she’s not a real Superhero. I dare you. (If you would like to read more about that, you can go here)I think of the parents that have to watch their children fight cancer. Those kids are Superheroes. There are Superheroes of diabetes, of asthma, of Hirschprung’s disease. And then those that fight silent battles constantly within their own bodies and minds. Those who are fighting mental illness, and spectrum disorders. Those who would give anything to have every little task that most take for granted not be a constant struggle for them. Those are the real Superheroes. This project is simple. We are going to have a studio (this is already paid for), with some different setups, and superhero costumes, and then we will take pictures of the kids to hopefully use in a calendar and we may broaden that to include coffee table books and other things. Each of the families that participate will receive a free 8×10 of their favorite “Hero print” and downloads of all their edited pictures that are optimally sized for facebook and blogs. If you would like to help with this event in any way, we would really appreciate it. And really no donation is too small. We really don’t need much to reach our goal, just around $300 give or take. If 30 people gave $10, that would be it. If we go beyond that, we will put that money toward future events, or the production of the calendar. Because yes, we hope to keep this going. We already have too many for the time slots we have. So what we need the money to help with is, accommodations at the event (snacks and such), and if we need to get more studio time either the day of or another day to allow everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to do so. Please use the “Donate” button below if you can help, and or share this.
We are hoping this turns into something big, and we need your help for that. We want to show the world who the True Superheroes are.
