Astounder
Lachlan the Astounder
Our first impression of this family were “saviors”…. literally! We had brought our daughter Emarie with us to these shoots, and upon arrival her cord from her g-tube got caught on a lever in the car as I was getting her out and came right out of her stomach. Of course I was unprepared and did not have her emergency kit with us, and try as we might as we frantically searched the car, we could not find a syringe to fit in the balloon port. Time is of the essence with g-tubes, and we have 20 minutes tops to get it back in before needing medical officials to help. I really thought I was going to have to take Emarie to Primary Children’s hospital and leave poor Steve to fend for himself doing all the pictures for around 30 kids, yikes! Thankfully though, Lachlan’s mommy was prepared and she kindly let us use her supplies. It had been a fair amount of time that it had been out at this point, but with help from some other moms and my friend Paige, I finally got the darn thing back in! So thank you, thank you for that! Thanks for being a super mommy to your Astounder so you could help out this less than prepared mom!
Lachlan is astounding and is quite amazing with his cute little chair! I’m not sure he knew quite what to think of us, but he sure worked his way into our hearts!
Lachlan has a rare brain condition that affects his fine/gross motor skills as well as speech and swallowing. He also has a rare muscle/joint condition that makes mobility tough.
He likes bouncing balls, physical comedy (falling/hitting/goofy stuff like that) and when things go fast. He moves around in a cool mini-wheelchair called a Zip Zac.
“We adore his tenacity, observant nature and great laughs! He has the ability to always shock, awe and inspire those with whom he comes in contact.” -Jessica (Lachlan’s mother)
Lachlan, it was a pleasure meeting you and your amazing parents! Keep up the good work of “astounding” all those you meet! You truly are a one of a kind True Superhero!
Stay tuned for our next episode featuring PacMan.
